The º£½ÇÔ´´ Airport hosted its fifth annual Props-4-Paws collection event this fall and doubled its goal, collecting 5,434 pounds of supplies, including toys and 6,213 cans of food for animals for Portage and Summit county animal shelters and rescue organizations.

Two-way traffic has been restored to Summit Street throughout the construction zone. Johnston Drive also is open to motorists.
The roundabout at Ted Boyd/Johnston Drive is operational at this time. A video is available to explain how to navigate a roundabout, whether you are in a car, on a bike or walking.

The Kent Campus may experience power interruptions due to turbine testing on Friday, Nov. 11.
º£½ÇÔ´´ generates a large portion of the power used on the Kent Campus. The university will be testing the turbines to check on the reliability and operation of control and distribution systems. This exercise tests the turbines’ ability to power the Kent Campus without being connected to the Ohio Edison power grid.

The first phase of the Summit Street: Building a Better Way Improvement Project is almost complete. Work began nearly a year ago on the stretch of Summit Street from Fraternity Circle to just past Loop Road, and that section of the road is expected to be finished by mid-November.

The air will become a little clearer on º£½ÇÔ´´ campuses come July 1, 2017. That is when º£½ÇÔ´´ will become a smoke-free, tobacco-free university. At its meeting in May, the º£½ÇÔ´´ Board of Trustees approved university policy 3345-5-21, which aligns with the university-level initiative to create a healthy campus environment for all employees, students and visitors.

The º£½ÇÔ´´ Police Services hosted its first-ever Coffee With a Cop event in the Nest in the Kent Student Center on Sept. 14. Students who attended the event had the opportunity to interact with º£½ÇÔ´´ police officers in a casual setting and receive free coffee, and the first 200 students who attended also received a free travel mug.

º£½ÇÔ´´ has made a minor revision to its winter closure schedule for the current year. The university will close as previously scheduled on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, at 10:30 p.m., with offices now set to re-open on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.
