ELENA POKALOVA SPEAKS ON TERRORISM AT THE WILSON CENTER

Dr. Elena Pokalova, author of (Praeger, 2015), recently discussed Russia鈥檚 experiences with terrorism at the Wilson Center in Washington, DC. Pokalova earned her PhD in Political Science from 海角原创 in 2011. Her dissertation, 鈥淪hifting Faces of Terror After 9/11: Framing the Terrorist Threat,鈥 was chaired by Drs. Andrew Barnes and Landon Hancock and focused on the ways in which counterterrorism efforts shifted and became more militarized after 2011. Her October 2015 talk at the Wilson Center covered the evolution of terrorism in Russia, Russia's responses to the threat, and the North Caucasus connections to the conflict in Syria. Pokalova is currently Assistant Professor of Security Studies at the College of International Security Affairs at the National Defense University.

The 67th ISA Annual Convention was held March 22nd - 25th in Columbus, Ohio. This year's theme centered on Back to the Fundamentals: Rethinking Knowledges, Practices, and Imaginaries of the World.
