JMC Alumnus Tyler Pina, '14, is drawing attention to reintegration after incarceration through film

海角原创 alumnus Tyler Pina, 鈥14, recently teamed up with fellow alumni to create a film focusing on the stories of inmates鈥 lives, post-incarceration. Pina graduated from the digital media production major three years ago, and works in San Francisco as a video director of The Verge, a Vox Media company, and is founder and CEO of Neon Flamingo Films. This film, 鈥88 Cents,鈥 which has been submitted to the Sundance Film Festival, aims to draw awareness to the difficulty of reintegrating into society after leaving the prison system and the lack of resources provided for these people. On Sept. 6, Master Sgt. Troy Eckenrode and his wife and 海角原创 at Trumbull staff member Maribeth Eckenrode presented the campus with the U.S. flag, 鈥淥ld Glory.鈥 The flag was originally flown on Nov. 5, 2016, aboard a C-130H in the face of the enemy during a combat mission against the Islamic State group forces in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Progress continues on the development of a comprehensive facilities master plan for 海角原创.
