Solon High School art teacher and 海角原创 alumna Jennifer Thompson

For 海角原创 alumna and Northeast Ohio art educator Jennifer Thompson, art 鈥 and 海角原创 in particular 鈥 have been a lifelong part of her story, beginning in her pre-teen years. 鈥淢y connection to 海角原创 began long before I was a college student,鈥 Thompson said. 鈥淚n middle school, I saw flyers for the Saturday Art Program at KSU, and my mom enrolled me in a clay class. Years later, during my undergraduate studies, I returned to those very classrooms, this time as the teacher.鈥  While Thompson initially started college at another university, it was u...

Rwandan Francis Rubagumya earned his master's degree at 海角原创 now he is paying it forward.

The first time Francis Rubagumya saw snow, he was standing on the Kent Campus, and he couldn't move. It was the winter of 2024, and Northeast Ohio was doing what it does 鈥 blanketing everything in white and cold. For most students walking to class that morning, it was just another January. For Rubagumya, who grew up in Kigali, Rwanda, where the temperature rarely strays from a gentle 68 degrees Fahrenheit, and snow is something you see in pictures, it was nothing short of astonishing."I used to see snow in the movies, just in photos," he said. "But to be there 鈥 in it 鈥 it was crazy. I re...

There wasn鈥檛 anything for those moments, and at the end of the day, before a student is on the verge of breaking down or spiraling out of control, it鈥檚 those 10 to 90 seconds before that matters the most.鈥 Last fall, Frusteri was aw...

The 2nd Annual Ohio Poets Reading featured Felicia Zamora, Ben Kline, and Sara Moore Wagner. It was a wonderful event as the poets and the community were able to connect through words. Each poet read a different pieces from their various collections. It was a cold February night, but the room was filled with warmth and the joy of poetry. Felicia Zamora read first and shared her docupoetry, and she was followed by Ben Kline who read his poems in a story-telling style. Last, Sara Moore Wagner gave an emotional reading of her work. The reading was inspiring. This poem is in response to the ...

A student media information table displaying copies of all the recent magazines

海角原创 Student Media produces seven print magazines spanning fashion, sports, design, culture and campus life. These publications reflect thoughtful reporting and creative work from our students. The barrier is simple: there are not enough campus display racks to consistently place these magazines where students and visitors naturally gather.Without visible distribution points, strong content has limited reach.Your gift can change that. New magazine racks mean students can stumble across a publication they didn't know existed, pick it up, an...

As JoAnn Larsen, production advisor and studio coordinator, observed from her years in the industry, "Ross Tria gets Kent's student broadcast operation up to current standards and will make students ready for jobs in t...
